MBFWB AW 2011: Reviews

AFriend by A.F. Vandevorst
As you may have noticed I haven't published any reviews of Berlin Fashion Week so far. One of the reasons is that I'm still not completely finished with writing them (which is clearly an indicator that I saw too many shows...) and the other one is, that they will be published on Kalinka.Kalinka (exclusively you could say). They are only in German though. Here are the links to check them out (to be continued):

First interview with Emmanuelle Alt as new editor-in-chief of French Vogue

"Same same, but different" - that's what French Vogue will look like with it's new editor-in-chief on duty. As we already know Emmanuelle Alt's first Cover will feature Gisele Bündchen - I'm looking forward to it (I'm so going to buy that issue)!

Here you can watch the interview of Alt with lovely Hilary Alexander from The Telegraph. She interviewed Emmanuelle Alt after the Chanel couture show and learned that her interview partner wore a Balmain jacket (like so often - bravo!),  a vintage fur (how p.c.) and Topshop jeans. Take a look to learn more...

Win win - Butter nail polish and Jade Maybelline mascara

The goodie bags at MBFWB were mostly rather poor this time. Not to many useful things. Some of those are three Butter nail polishes (from the Allude show - red, black and something between lilac and brown) and a mascara from Jade Maybelline (One by One Volum' Express). As I'm not going to use those, I give you the chance to win them.

All you need to do is become a fan on Facebook or follow me with the Google reader. Then leave a comment under this post with your email adress - until the 15th of February. Voila! Good luck! Hugo Hase

My outfit today

jacket > H&M   scarf > Michalsky   skirts > Zara   bag > H&M Trend
gloves and socks > H&M   shoes > Jil Sander

When I bought that bag I had no idea how to wear or combine it, but know I'm in love - it's so practical! And it helps to get any women's skirt to pass as a kilt...

Craziest shoes seen all week at MBFWB

Yesterday I saw some woman wearing these crazy heel lacking hooves. I was told that they were designed by Berlin designer Julia Lipinski.

Street Styles from MBFWB FW 2011

My outfit on day three of MBFWB

It sucks a little that all my outfit picture of this Fashion Week look so different. Different background, lighting and so on... Bad preparation is the reason. I hope you like it anyway!

vest > Michalsky  cardigan > Roberto Cavalli  shirt and leather trouser > H&M Trend
necklace and bag > Arrondissement AQ1   shoes > Jil Sander

Most beautiful shoes seen at MBFWB so far...

...worn by the fabulous Anjelica. She got them as a gift from Jeffrey Campbell. You can also see a picture of her whole outfit in my new post about street styles from MBFWB. Enjoy!

My outfit on day two of MBFWB

Today more gentleman-like - the bow-tie was a little askew though unfortunately, at least the moment the picture was taken.

glasses > Tom Ford   bow-tie and pocket square > vintage   shirt > Zara
vest > COS   jacket > H&M   trousers and bag > vintage  shoes > Zara

My outfit on day one of MBFWB

Here's what I wore today, well actually yesterday - the first day of shows of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. I actually changed later in the afternoon, but there is no picture of the second look. This one was better anyway.

leather shirt and skirt > H&M Trend   feather-necklace > Topman
leggings > American Apparel   bag and shoes & Jil Sander

Opening of "Recollection Quartett"

Weitere Filme dazuhier.

Ausstellung/Exhibition: 19. - 23. January 2011 (Open Public / Eintritt frei)
Bühnenservice - Stiftung Oper in Berlin, Zinnowitzer Str. / Ecke Nordbahnhof, 10115 Berlin

During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin the Mode Museum Antwerpen (MoMu) and Mercedes-Benz present the exhibition "Recollection Quartett". The Belgian art director Frederic Heyman and the fashion designers Bernhard Willhelm, Peter Pilotto, Henrik Vibskov and Mikio Sakabe were asked to create four installations in their unique design languages.

The focus of each installation is a Mercedes-Benz Young Classic automobile with cult character. The exhibition shows how our perception of those cars changed over the years - just like our comprehension of luxury, technical know-how and functionality. This adds up to inspirations for the world of fashion, which redefines itself constantly by reinterpreting long gone styles and fashion trends. The installation gives the answer on how we can be inspired by youngtimers.

For each Mercedes-Benz Young Classic the photographer and artist Frederik Heyman created and incomparable backdrop. The design of the motives and their photographical reproduction are the main piece of Heymans works, that's embossed by humor and a surrealistic picture language. Each of the four fashion designers created three designs for one of the installations. See more about that here.

Modestrecke - Unterwegs mit Les Mads - Gewinnspiel/Win the book

A few weeks ago the book Modestrecke - Unterwegs mit Les Mads was published. Friends of cultivated fashion blogging had their antennaes buzzing immediately. For Jessica Weiss and Julia Knolle, the founding duo behind Les Mads, are Germany's most successful bloggers when it comes to fashion collections, outfits, questions of style, new fascinating fashion blogs and so on.

A while ago Julia decided to leave the team, to work on others projects. So both were taken with the idea, brought on to them by Berliner Taschenbuch Verlag, of writing down their experiences and activities in a book - to be able to hold a nice summery of the shared adventures in their hands.

The book consists of 52 chapters, or more like small columns, which delve into various matters, like: What to do with bad buys?, What to wear on a first date?, Pros and cons of red lipstick, Why most of us should stay away from overalls (I happen to look just great in them) or experiences at Fashion Weeks around the globe.

I have to say I find most of the anecdotes a little unpersonal - compared to the style they write articles online. Furthermore I find the statement of being dressed better or more original like editorial staff from American magazines, whose predictable outfits were just taken from The Sartorialist a little arrogant - especially being enunciated by someone who prefers flat shoes (which obviously are typical European) over highheels...

But just decide for yourself - if you're able to read German (or are not, but want the book anyway) you have a chance to win it here.
All you have to do is become a fan of Hugo Hase loves fashion auf Facebook or a follower via Google Reader. Then leave a comment under this post with your email adress until 1st of February at the latest. That's it.

New beauty trend for men - red lips

It's rather early to analyze the menswear shows that are happening at the moment for fall/winter trends of 2011/12 as too many shows are still to come. But looking through the pictures of the Vivienne Westwood show you cannot not notice one thing - all the models are wearing red lipstick. Some of the guys are looking really strange, but I have to say some of them look really sweet or even hot with their red lips...

MAC cosmetics is doing a collaboration with DC Comics at the moment, bringing out a special Wonder Woman collection for spring. Maybe they should plan a Superman collaboration or something like that as well...
Anyway, Vivienne Westwood is the collection I like best so far! Especially the dandy styles and the pleated trousers.
